D. Michelle Janysek, Ph.D.
Project Director
D. Michelle Janysek joined the Texas Adult Education Credential Project in 2005 as a project coordinator. Prior to joining the Credential Project she worked in the field of educator certification and assessment. From 1996 to 2002, she worked at Texas State University-San Marcos in the Office of Educator Certification and Placement where she served as the university’s certification officer. From 2002 to 2005 she was employed by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) where she first worked as a program administrator focusing on educator preparation program development, educator assessment and new teacher mentoring and induction. She later served as the director of Educator Quality and Accountability.
Dr. Janysek earned a doctorate in Adult, Professional and Community Education from Texas State University-San Marcos in 2007; a master’s degree in Arts Administration from
Mary Helen Martinez

Mary Helen Martinez has more than 20 years in the field of adult education in various roles including program administration, program evaluation, teacher training, workforce development and postsecondary transitions She is currently a grant coordinator for The Education Institute (TEI) at Texas State University-San Marcos. She serves on three statewide grant project initiatives for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA): Texas Adult Education Credential Grant Project, Central GREAT Center Project and the Building Bridges to Success: Strengthening Postsecondary Transition for Students in Adult education project. She has a master's degree in Developmental and Adult Education from
