Integrating the Parents Make the Difference Curriculum into:

  2. Educate parents on Life Skills.
  3. Let Parents journal daily issues, note most common and weekly use in parenting class (theme) discussion.  They are choosing what is important to them.  (Allowing their input).
  4. Teach parents how to make play dough (recipe) and take it home to implement.
  5. Watch video that we shoot in adult education.

Adult Education

  1. Ask questions about what the parents are interested in. – how children learn language?
  2. Talk about Tuned-In concept with adults so they can use with their children at home – e.g. use same vocabulary at home.
  3. Parents will partner and do an activity they will later implement with their child.  They will role play. One of them could be the child while the other acts like the parent actively using the “Tuned-In” approach.
  4. Will go over the concepts of the book and discuss ILA video. Get adult input.

  3. Project base learning – e.g. they pick insects as the topic.  They come up with vocabulary, tools, equipment to research- bring from home.
